Encapsulate coins to increase the preservation and appreciation of your coins
Encapsulating coins is a practice that every collector who wants to preserve the integrity of their pieces and ensure their authenticity should do. This process, also known as coin encapsulation, not only protects against deterioration, but also increases the value of the pieces by certifying their quality through internationally recognized companies. In this NCV Grading article we tell you about the advantages and our process for encapsulating coins.
What is coin encapsulation?
Encapsulating coins involves sealing them inside rigid, transparent capsules, specifically designed for their preservation. These capsules have informative labels that detail key aspects such as the year, country of issue, state of preservation and particular characteristics of the coin or banknote. Once encapsulated, the pieces are protected from external elements such as scratches, dirt or humidity. In this way we achieve a series of advantages that we will tell you about in the following section.
Advantages of encapsulating coins and bills
- Long-lasting preservation: Capsules protect the pieces from environmental factors that could damage them.
- Guarantee of authenticity: Encapsulation certifies that the pieces have been evaluated by experts.
- Increased value: Encapsulated and certified coins are more attractive to collectors and investors.
- Historical protection: Guarantees the preservation of valuable pieces both historically and materially.

Standard procedure for encapsulating coins
At NCV Grading we take great care of our work. The encapsulation process we carry out includes the following steps:
- Initial Shipping: Collectors send their pieces to an authorized center, such as NCV Grading, using secure and traceable services.
- Pre-Review: The shipment is verified and the corresponding documentation is generated.
- Evaluation and Grading: The coins are analyzed by experts who determine their state of conservation and authenticity before being encapsulated.
- Grading and Encapsulation: Experts determine the condition and authenticity of the pieces, sealing them appropriately.
- Return: Encapsulated coins are returned to the customer along with the documentation and final invoice.
